What We Do
Founded in 2022, the Afghan Association of Centra Virginia (AACVA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, non-partisan organization.
AACVA serves as the center for connecting Afghans to fellow community members and necessary resources for social integration and adjustment while preserving their cultural identities.
We strive to provide an environment for all Afghans regardless of tribe, race, or creed, residing in Central Virginia.
Vision Statement
We envision a future in which Afghan individuals and families are empowered to realize their full potential as valued members of American society, free from the cycles of war, displacement, and poverty that have defined their recent history. Rooted in a rich culture of resilience, generosity, and dignity, Afghan communities bring strength and perspective that enrich the social, civic, and economic fabric of our nation. By fostering safety, opportunity, and belonging, we seek to replace survival with stability, fear with hope, and isolation with connection, ensuring that Afghan people can thrive, contribute, and build lasting futures for themselves and for the communities they now call home.
Our Mission
The Afghan Association of Central Virginia exists to support Afghan immigrants through culturally responsive programs that foster belonging, wellbeing, and stability. We connect individuals and families to essential resources that promote social welfare, strengthen community integration, and contribute to a healthy, peaceful, and prosperous society for all.
